31 Things For 31 Days

In an effort to bring some light to a dark month, I decided to post thirty-one things that happened this January. Here is my month recap!

  1. I spent New Years Eve celebrating both Christmas and the new year. Joint holiday parties are so fun!
  2. My mom, sister, and I made risotto. Is there a food better under the sun? No, the answer is no.
  3. Justin Bieber came out with the single “Anyone”. Yes, I just included that.
  4. I received some tea from my sister for Christmas from Big Heart Tea Co. If you are looking for some fun local teas, I recommend their “Cup of Sunshine” and “Edith Grey”. I have really enjoyed their tea!
  5. I bought a fiddle leaf fig plant almost two years ago. Sadly, there has been very little growth in that time period. Well, it started growing in December, and stopped growing this month! It grew SEVEN leaves!
  6. I participated in a game night with some friends. And we laughed all night long. (Those are the best kinds of nights).
  7. My family and I went to Pastaria for the first time. I have no words. Their noddles are fantastic! I highly recommend!
  8. For the first time in months, I started and finished a book by Susan Branch. This one was based in Martha’s Vineyard, obviously I was a fan.
  9. Back in 2020 I found a puzzle of Zion National Park for $3.00. I was “looking for a hobby” and thought 1,000 pieces would take me “maximum about two hours”. It took me three days of working for bits at a time to finish the sky. With lots of help! I began it December 22, 2020 and finished January 13, 2021. I am still looking for a hobby.
  10. Festus Missouri held a basketball tournament for the league my brother plays in. His games lasted an entire weekend. There is not much in Festus, but it has a decent Goodwill!
  11. I blogged!
  12. It snowed!!! Who else thinks that winter should be full of snow or non-existent?
  13. More basketball games.
  14. My family and I toured an old abandoned series of buildings for sale with our realtor friend. The main portion was built back in the 1800s by German settlers. It was built to be a seminary. Eventually it became an asylum, and was used for a variety of other things. The buildings were crazy to see! And it is for sale, if anyone is in the market for 55 acres of buildings in need of repair. Haha!
  15. We made more risotto, this time with friends!
  16. I started school.
  17. Even more basketball.
  18. I visited my Grandparents.
  19. I got the opportunity for some needed rest days.
  20. I started the T.V. series Band of Brothers, and finished it. The show is so good! I cried, and will watch it over again soon.
  21. I enjoyed a pretty sunset. Is it just me, or does the sky get prettier in the winter?
  22. Ate more, you guessed it, risotto!
  23. Caught up with friends at church.
  24. Lots of cookies were also eaten this month!
  25. BBC Masterpiece theater came out with All Creatures Great and Small. It is just precious. Watching it is our new Sunday night tradition.
  26. Did I mentioned we have eaten risotto?
  27. I have been attending a class my dad teaches every Sunday.
  28. I began spending almost all of my time doing homework. (This is real life)
  29. I finished the book of Genesis!
  30. I had not one, but two, killer days at salvation army! (If you know, you know!)
  31. Guess what we are making today? You better know, risotto!

Happy January, and happy Sunday.

Sincerely,

MJ
