Nicaragua 2017

I know exactly what you are thinking.

GIRL, IT HAS BEEN A MONTH.

I warned you I am a slow processor.

The entire trip was such an eye-opener. Which describes every mission trip ever, so let me be more descriptive.

First of all, I had so many people praying for me, and cheering me on. That fact alone makes a huge difference in the way my trip went. So to everyone who prayed for me; THANK YOU. Prayer is my favorite way in which people support me. Because when I am weak, people are praying me through.

Nicaragua was my first time out of the country…EVER. So I was struck immediately with how different the country was compared to America. unnamed (1)

This trips main purpose was to introduce me to the place I will be interning this summer. I can’t say it was love at first sight. But I was definitely “overwhelmed at first sight”. Overwhelmed with the beauty, the poverty, and the heat. Our hosts were some of the sweetest people, they made sure we were comfortable and showed us Nicaragua from their perspective. The entirety of the five days served as a tour of Nicaragua.  We visited four different places I could potentially be living. All of which were BEAUTIFUL I might add.

We also got to visit two schools the ministry runs.

Hanging out in the schools was by far my favorite thing we did.  I love kids, and kids speaking Spanish are no exception. Although I did not help much, I was able to observe a lot. The schools will be the main thing I get to help with, so visiting them was very exciting. Although I could not speak enough Spanish to keep up a continuous conversation, it was so great to see where and who I will be connecting with.

We visited a family I could be staying with, as well as a church. And before we knew it our trip was over. This trip was so nice, and I was gifted with lots of touristy things to do, but I know this is nothing like what the internship will be like. I know that the only way I can do this is through Christ. Spanish will be a struggle, and I know I will struggle with all the new for a long period of time. But God has remained faithful throughout my life, and I know his faithfulness will not end here.

I would ask you all to pray for me as I prepare to leave for my internship within the next three months. This will definitely be a hard thing, but some of the hardest things grow you the most. I thank God for the “sneak peek” he provided. And pray that I will not take my time there for granted.

Sincerely,

Nicaragua here I come
