“Hope”

Dear Friends,

Most of you probably wonder why on earth this “Martha girl” even has a blog. After all, her blogs are few and far between..and yes I agree are on heavy topics. Today friends, I get the delight to share some simple joys. First of all, I am on Christmas break! Praise the Lord! Second, I am halfway through my senior year. So close yet so far!

I would like to share a poem with you I recently read by Anne Bradstreet that has been a delight.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.
My hope had been renewed thanks to a dear friend of mine…and this poem echoes my feelings. Friends we are coming up on Christmas in just two short weeks. And I would like you to know there is a hope. I know that is what every church is putting on their bulletins, and what every Christmas hymn is singing on the radio. But let us not desensitize and grow “accustom” to this hope and take advantage of it.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16
Remember that you are the one he loved so much. That despite your failures, your emotional state, or your grades…The God of the universe thought about YOU.  He wants to save you and call you as his child. And this Christmas we get the absolute joy of remembering phase one of his rescue plan. Can you imagine the amount of humility it took for God to send his son to be born in the stable? He knew from the very beginning that his rescue plan involved the most horrendous death imaginable. Jesus did it in the name of showing you his love. Merry Christmas Y’all (that is if I do not blog before then haha)
Sincerely,
the girl that strongly dislikes cold weather
